The Glen at Hiland Meadows Memory Care Expansion Project

Memory Care is coming to Queensbury, NY

Eddy Senior Living is pleased to announce its plans to expand The Glen at Hiland Meadows senior living community in Queensbury NY. The $27-million project planned to begin in 2021 was approved by the Queensbury Planning Board in October 2019, and is expected to open in Fall of 2022.

The plans include three separate projects; an innovative memory and dementia care facility, a two-story addition to the main building, and a state-of-the-art wellness center.

Specialized Memory Care in Queensbury

At the heart of the project is a 25,000 square foot building for memory care, which will feature 30 suites and provide assisted living care, as well as a day program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory loss problems.

The decision to expand the community’s memory care services was due in large part to a recent study conducted by Murdock Strategies, which indicated there was a critical need for memory and dementia care in the Queensbury area. In fact, there is an estimated 100-bed deficit, forcing many local families to move loved ones out of the area in order to get proper care. The Glen hopes to change that by providing more options locally for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Similar to our networks’ other nationally recognized memory care models in Cohoes and East Greenbush, The Glen will offer a residential environment that preserves self-esteem and self-confidence and supports independence. The plans call for attractive living areas to create a warm, familiar atmosphere, and a culture of care that enhances quality of life specifically for those with cognitive impairment. Upgrades to landscaping, and the addition of a gazebo and walking paths are planned, as well, to allow for supervised wandering and resident engagement.

TODAY OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOUR HELP:

  • The number of individuals affected, and their families has grown significantly over the past few years and will continue at an unprecedented rate into the immediate future.
  • Currently, our region is under-served by over 100 beds. This critical project will help meet this urgent need for those suffering from memory loss.
  • The Memory Care project can only become a reality as part of a comprehensive expansion plan with a total projected cost of $27.6 million of which $12.7 is allocated for the Memory Care community.
  • Given the scope of these needs, The Glen at Hiland Meadows and the Northeast Health Foundation have been working diligently on a capital campaign to support this project with a fundraising goal of $2 million in philanthropic dollars.
  • To date, we are pleased to report that we have secured over $1.8 million from the Board of Directors, Residents and Community Members’ leadership gifts.
